Introduction
A Topic Pack is a teacher resource kit containing a range of materials for delivery of a 'topic', 'unit' or 'focus'. All packs have an underpinning science and exploration emphasis, but in keeping with early years education, they take an integrated approach. They should be treated as a resource from which teachers and adults draw information and ideas, based on the emergent interests of children. By building up a number of packs, a centre or school will possess a ‘library’ of resources from which they can draw appropriate materials when interest areas arise.
The target age group is 3½ to 5½ years of age.
The contents come housed in a clear plastic copysafe PVC wallet so at a glance you seen what you have — great for organising your resources.

Teacher's plan: an integrated overview covering emergent science and exploration, art and creative, literacy and music, social and contribution and numeracy activity ideas. In addition, some packs have group work and extension ideas for advancing the children's learning.
Curriculum links: a summary table shows how the pack contributes towards curriculum objectives.
Teacher's resource sheets: examples include poems, songs, activity ideas, basic facts, teacher-led experiments and investigations..
Photocopy masters: activity sheets for use by children, including for example tracking, sequencing, seriation, patterning, basic letter and word formation, early numeracy concepts, decoration templates, etc.
Other elements: for example, board stories, puzzles, 'find the' sheets, matching cards, x-rays, transparent overlays, etc. |
